PART III: The most instagrammable spots in Zell am See-Kaprun and Surroundings by fraebitude

In my last blog series I informed you about some insider tips in the region Zell am See - Kaprun. Now I would like to go into some more known places so that you can enjoy them more intensively and better away from the tourist streams and peak times.

High mountain reservoirs Kaprun - postcard idyll on the highest level which never gets boring!

No wonder that you can find me up there at least twice a year. The two lakes lie in the upper Kaprun valley like two fjords. Nestled between the three-thousand-metre summits of the Alps, on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Also here the earlier the better. You can park comfortably & free of charge in the parking garage in the Kesselfallstraße. From there, the bus will take you up in serpentines and through narrow tunnels. Normally you drive a section with an impressive inclined elevator, but unfortunately this is closed this year because of Covid. So you have to take the bus for the whole distance.

At the top you will find a wonderful world of water and mountains. There are countless fantastic photo spots between the 2 reservoirs and even a photo point to take a snapshot as a memory. Three restaurants will provide for your physical well-being.

For sporty ones there is also a lot on offer. Several hiking possibilities and even a climbing route at the Mooserboden dam.

But I really only recommend the MOBO 107 to adrenaline junkies.

Correctly recognized, the name was composed of MOoserBOden and the height of 107 m.

If you want to take it a little bit easier but also want some action, I recommend trying the Flying Fox and the best, it's even free (every first weekend from July to October).

My tip: When you have explored everything, take the herbal trail (about 30 min) to the Fürthermoar Alm and enjoy the delicious products from their own farm. There is also a bus stop, so you can comfortably start your journey home from there.

Grossglockner High Alpine Road - Austria's highest view since 1935

& a must if you need a fantastic picture for your Instafeed :D

What was once reserved only for experienced climbers has become an experience for young and old

since the construction of the

Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

Enjoy exhibitions and museums,

huts and mountain inns,

visitor centers and information points

put the diverse mountain world with its fauna & flora in the middle of the

Hohe Tauern National Park in the spotlight.

If you want to enjoy this unique landscape to the fullest, I can give you the following tip.

Drive up as early as possible to escape the streams of visitors and look for a nice spot away from the crowds.

There are several beautiful and also short hiking trails. Also in summer you should not forget a warm jacket, at 2.500 m there are of course lower temperatures than in the valley. A day ticket for a car costs € 37,00

Recharge your batteries at the cool Klammsee reservoir

in Kaprun

If there is not enough time for a big trip, there are still possibilities to end the day in nature. Such a place is for example the Klammsee in Kaprun.

Cool and revitalize your tired legs

on hot summer days in a

Kneipp basin or directly in the

clear mountain lake. The beautiful color of the glacier water and the reflecting mountains invite you

to stay.

A walk around the lake takes about 1 hour. There is also a small kiosk the Klammseestüberl.

But I would recommend you to pack

a picnic blanket and some delicacies yourself and look for a cozy place a little bit aside

My tip:  If you want to do some more activity, it's best to visit the Schneckenreith Alm.

You can reach this small, sweet mountain pasture after a 20 minute walk.

Enjoy their homemade and typical Austrian delicacies.

For example, butter, cheese and bacon are homemade and the view is simply stunning!
