Portoroz & Piran - the insider tips on the Adriatic coast

If you are looking for long beach promenades, a beautiful old town and moderate prices, these are the right places for you!

Too many people still connect the Adriatic Sea exclusively with Italy and Croatia. The narrow but very charming coastal strip of Slovenia is often forgotten.

The coastal towns there are among the most beautiful that the Adriatic Sea has to offer. Last week we made ourselves therefore already for the second time on the way into beautiful Istria.

Portoroz lies picturesquely on a headland into the sea. The coastal town impresses with its Mediterranean flair and palm trees and lots of green dominate the cityscape.

In the evening the bars in the pedestrian zone and the restaurants entice you to stroll. The centerpiece is the lively beach promenade and the casino.

Only 10 minutes by car from Portoroz is the picturesque little port town of Piran with its narrow, winding alleys and an exposed position out to sea.

It reminds very much of Italy with its Venetian architecture and has preserved its original charm.

Travelling in style & pure relaxation at the 5* luxury Hideaway Kempinski Palace Portoroz

If you want to relax, breathe in the sea air and enjoy outstanding service, this is the right place for you.

The historic 5* luxury hotel is located directly at a charming, beautifully landscaped park and only a few meters from the sea.

There you will also find the hotel's own sandy beach Palace Beach with comfortable sunbeds and top service. If you want a little more privacy, you should book one of the hip VIP cabanas.

We had booked the Palace Suite with a sea view. It was located in the traditional part of the hotel and the spacious suite was very elegant and stylishly furnished with attention to detail.

The best thing we liked the most was of course the wonderful view of the Adriatic Sea from even 2 balconies. Who wouldn't want to wake up like this every morning?

The generous breakfast buffet convinces with a large selection of cold and warm dishes and the best thing is that it goes until 12:00 o'clock and therefore you can really sleep in without a guilty conscience during your vacation.

Fine dining at the highest level at the Michelin Plate awarded Restaurant Sophia!

One evening we had dinner in the upscale in-house à la carte restaurant Sophia.

It is named after the Italian diva Sophia Loren and of course the ambience reminds us of the beauty.

The reception was located here in the very past.

We were delighted with the small and fine menu and the refined Mediterranean dishes, combined with local ingredients and international flavors.

To further enhance the relaxation factor, I treated myself with a Signature Treatment at the Rose Spa. This treatment consists of a full body peeling with sea salt and beneficial oils followed by a full body massage. Afterwards I felt like a newborn :)

And should the weather not play along, you can also relax in the generous wellness area with a heated indoor and outdoor pool and various saunas.

By invitation of Kempinski Palace Portoroz - my opinion remains unaffected by that.
